San Diego Summer Vacation 2010: sun, sand, surf

So summer of 2010 is basically here and I’m very excited.  Today I finally heard back from a girl I once knew and she has a way about her which always makes me happy whenever talking or even thinking about her.  This is the perfect time of year for her to be back in my life and I’m looking forward to getting in touch again.  Actually, hearing from her is what inspired me to want to write this blog–so thank you Helena!

I always expect summertime to be special and this one definitely feels like one where “things” will happen.  It’s crazy how the ho-hum of life can change so easily with just a piece of advice, hearing from a friend, trying something new, or gaining some new piece of knowledge.

Summer is ALL about fun in the sun, blazing days leading to endless nights on the beach, and girls:)  I always wish for all three, but for the most part, end up only getting the first two.  But just today I received some great news–fun and cheap water sport classes in CORONADO of all places!     Special thanks to Jeff L. on yelp for his recommendation of the Crown Cove Aquatic Center.  For those of you unfamiliar, Coronado probably the best place in San Diego to enjoy a summer and is consistently ranked a top 10 beach in America.  Glittering white sand, shade under towering palm trees, sparkling blue waters, and girls…what more could a guy, or girl, ask for?

Here’s a link to the classes offered and their times: Class Schedule 1Class Schedule 2

The anticipation is making me excited!  I’m still not sure about my summer schedule but if it has anything to do with any of the above, then I’d be a very happy guy:)

Ahh, to be with a girl under the evening sun laying on white sand or surfing Coronado beach with the Hotel del Coronado as a backdrop…

.

**update 7/6/2010**

We’re in the third week of classes and here’s some additional info:

The total cost of the class is only $28, which includes free parking (normally $10 per day), and even free surfboard rentals–just an incredible deal.

The beach is actually the Silver Strand State Beach and not the Coronado Beach I was hoping for, but the place has a similar look and feel to it, only without the Hotel del Coronado as a backdrop.  This beach is located about 3.5 miles south of The Del.

The waves can be frightening at times and hard to figure out, so these classes are a perfect choice for beginners as there’s the instructor and 1-2 “lifeguards” constantly on watch and to offer personal guidance on proper technique.  The surfboards offered are made of foam and are much, much safer and generally lighter than using traditional surfboards.
